What is miraDry?
Underarm sweat is very normal when you exercise or feel nervous. However, if you experience excessive sweating that stains your clothing and causes an embarrassing odor, you may have a medical condition called hyperhidrosis. At Ageless Grace in Murrieta, CA, Dr. Lily Phillips offers miraDry treatments to help with excessive underarm sweating. Made by Miramar Labs, miraDry is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to safely target perspiration and odor glands in the underarms. Since you have roughly two million sweat glands throughout your body with only 2% in the underarms, you can easily live without these. Often, after undergoing miraDry treatments, patients can live more comfortably without having to worry about sweat marks, deodorant streaks, stickiness, and odor. miraDry is a fast, nonsurgical procedure that can help patients feel more confident by reducing excessive underarm perspiration.
"I had the miradry done by Robert, PA and Jennifer, NP. They explained the procedure, side effects, and recovery thoroughly. The actual procedure was painless and I was in and out in about an hour. I iced and took NSAIDs as Robert advised and I felt ok after a few days. I stayed swollen for a few weeks but I no longer sweat and don’t have to use deodorant anymore. Miradry definitely works wonders."- K.A. / Google / Oct 03, 2019
"Had a great experience with Ageless Grace and would highly recommend them to others. I received the Miradry treatment about 2 weeks ago and I'm so happy with the results and the entire process. The staff there is so nice and helpful and the recovery time was minimal. So happy to no longer need clinical strength deodorant and wear colorful shifts, thank you Ageless Grace!"- T.S. / Google / Nov 14, 2019
What to Expect From miraDry Treatments
miraDry can help patients who experience excess sweat or odor under their arms. miraDry is a great option if you:
- Have consistent problems with excessive underarm sweat
- Experience sweat stains on your shirts
- Want to avoid the strong toxins and chemicals in antiperspirants
- Feel embarrassed by the odor from your armpits
- Prefer to feel cleaner and fresher
During your consultation, we can determine if this procedure works well for you and develop a tailored treatment plan. At the beginning of your treatment, Dr. Phillips will clean your underarms, mark the area, and apply a topical anesthetic. Next, we pass the miraDry device over the underarms, which uses light suction to bring the sweat glands near the top layer of the skin. To reduce sweat glands, the device emits thermal energy while a cooling sensation is applied to the skin. Typically, your session takes about one hour. Following the procedure, your underarm area may have temporary swelling, soreness, numbness, or tingling for a few days, but you will have an immediate reduction in underarm perspiration. For optimal results, we recommend two treatments at approximately 2 – 3 months apart. You can resume your normal routine right after your procedure, but you should avoid strenuous activities for about a week.
